Since its launch in 2007, the smartphone has revolutionized global communication and media use, becoming an indispensable part of our lives. The Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung’s new exhibition, The World in My Hand, traces the impact of the smartphone on contemporary art. In eight chapters, the exhibition summarizes various aspects and debates surrounding the smartphone, ranging from the launch date of our daily digital companion to its characteristic touchscreen and the contractions of time and space it enables.
